Following the success of the Derbyshire Elite Academy during the winter of 2007/8, Andrew and Chris have decided (following their merger) to introduce the Elite Academy to Yorkshire. The Yorkshire Elite Academy simulates Professional Cricket in that the training sessions mirror them of a professional cricketer.
Pro Coach believes this Academy to be the ultimate in youth cricket coaching and should be considered if the young cricketer has serious ambitions to really develop their game.
The Winter of 2008/9 will be the inaugural year for the Yorkshire Elite Academy. The East Stand at Headingley Carnegie Cricket stadium has already been booked as the venue. (This facility is where the Yorkshire 1st team squad train on a daily basis.) The Elite Academy will run from October 2008 till late January 2009. The aim of the coaches is to prepare and groom young cricketers to play Junior County cricket and ultimately achieve their ambition of playing professional cricket.
How it works.
Here are the benefits of the Yorkshire Elite Academy cricket coaching:-
- 10 regular two hour training sessions throughout the winter (mainly Friday nights from 7 till 9pm).
- All the cricket coaching comes from current Professional Cricketers very experienced in the game.
- Video and slow motion analysis of each attendee's batting and bowling.
- Coaching masterclasses run by International Cricketers.
- Entry as Yorkshire Elite Academy into the National Academy indoor tournament.
- Yorkshire Elite Academy tracksuit and training wear provided
- Every training session in the Headingley Stadium East Stand reserved for Yorkshire 1st team squad training.
Pro Coach believes this will become the stepping stone into professional cricket.
Elite Academy age structure.
Unlike in Derbyshire, there will only be one Elite Academy. Applicants should be between 10 and 15 years old.
Young cricketers from all parts of Yorkshire who would like expert cricket coaching should apply.
